Solidarity and Struggle: Resisting Anti-Gender Politics is an open-access online course developed from the findings of the RESIST Project. The course offers critical insights into contemporary ‘anti-gender’ politics across Europe, exploring their dynamics and impacts, while highlighting diverse strategies of resistance, solidarity, and collective action.

Course Objectives
This course will help you understand the dynamics of ‘anti-gender’ politics, discourses and moblisations as well as queer, trans, feminist, and LGBTIQ+ intersectional resistances against it. You will investigate the tangible effects of ‘anti-gender’ politics on everyday lives, including its role in contributing to migration and displacement.
The course will highlight the resistance efforts of queer, trans, feminist, and LGBTIQ+ communities across Europe – namely, Belarus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, EU-level action, and a transnational case of people living in exile in the EU due to ‘anti-gender’ politics – showcasing their strategies and resilience in the face of adversity.

- Session 2: Media and ‘Anti-Gender’ Discourse
- Session 3: Lived Effects of ‘Anti-Gender’ Politics
- Session 4: Migration and Displacement
- Session 5: Solidarity, Creativity, and Care
Outcomes
Through a combination of theoretical frameworks and practical toolkits, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to engage in effective resistance against ‘anti-gender’ politics/mobilisation.
By the end of this course you will:
- be able to identify and assess real-world examples of both ‘anti-gender’ campaigns and the resistances from queer, trans, feminist, and LGBTIQ+ communities.
- critically analyse the impact of ‘anti-gender’ movements on social inequalities across different European contexts, moving beyond the simplistic divide between Western and Eastern Europe.
